"On behalf of all of the engineers and designers who worked so hard to make today a reality, I'm thrilled to ake this opportunity to show you iOS 7," Federighi says.
You can now have animated lock screens and wallpaper
We start with the lockscreen, home screen, and apps, all of which "looks great," Federighi gushes. As you move the device it tracks your motion and creates a parallax field that gives you a sense of 3D.
Parallax -- that's the word I was looking for. The wallpaper is now parallax.
"Your friends never looked more attractive."
We're getting quick looks at messages, calendar, phone and Game Center. "We just completely ran out of green felt," Federighi jabs again.
"And Game Center ... we just completely ran out of green felt." It's now just colored circles in the logo.
Basically every app has been redesigned. So we're getting a demo of it live.
Federighi unlocks the phone and the icons float down -- not all at once. He fires up Weather, and we see some moving clouds on the screen. Looks a bit like Yahoo's recent Weather app revmap.
Apps now zoom in rather than switching the screen
It changes dynamically based on what place you're looking at. You can also pinch down, and you get an overview of your cities.
We're getting a demo of the weather app -- pinch to see all the weather updates at once.
Onto calendar. Can swipe from day to day. Just tons of white everywhere.
navigate through your browser history by swiping left and right.
Keeping the interface minimal bleeds the line between browser and app.
Federighi shows us some simple gestures to hop back and forth between pages, as well as the search. Now included: shared links from social places.
You're no longer limited to 8 tabs.
Love the swiping through tabs. Nice to have advanced gestures finally come to iOS.
No skeumorphism, exactly, but the new tabs does look like a Rolodex.
No more 8 tab limit on tabs, says. Federighi hops through quite a few. These can also get ditched with a gesture. That's it for the Safari demo. Onto Control center.
Getting to wifi in one swipe is a game changer.
Yeah, the tabs are just a 3D view. Cool, but not gratuitous.
