Germany's Felix Loch wins the men's singles luge ahead of Albert Demchenko of Russia, and Armin Zoeggeler of Italy. Loch had the fastest time in every of the event's four runs.
So far two Americans are qualified from the short-track speedskating 1,500 heats. J.R. Celski and Eduardo Alvarez. Chris Creveling still yet to go.
Chris Creveling did not advance out of his 1,500 heat, finishing just a bit off the pace in fourth.
The men's short-track 1,500 semifinals will begin shortly after 6 a.m.
USA women's hockey is on the board against Switzerland, 1-0, as the twin Lamoureux sisters connect up for a goal.
And just like that another goal for USA, this one from Amanda Kessel -- who tapped in a rebound in front of the net. 2-0 9:53 in the 1st period.
And another goal for USA... Kessel again, literally seconds after previous score. 3-0 and counting.
Oh boy, this women's hockey game is going to get ugly. USA now leads Switzerland 4-0 with 5 minutes left in 1st period. This game is begging for a Switzerland-defense-swiss cheese joke.
Back at speedskating, women's short-track heats are about to start in the 500-meter.
Over at women's short-track 500-meter heats, three Americans are looking to advance. Emily Scott, Alyson Dudek and Jessica Smith. Scott is coming up shortly.
